Resto respec mission accomplished

Woot! I did it! Thanks to you guys for helping me out with your comments on the last post. I respecced Resto and I feel all shiny and new now! I’ve got some awesome powers that I’ve never had before and I’m itching to try them out. (Man, I hope I can still fight things with this build. /scared.) I really appreciate all your help. I’m studying Elitist Jerks and also Loot Rank for help with gear next. However, with the loot I already had been saving, I got my bonus healing up to 775 which is higher than it’s ever been by over 200%! So here’s the build for all to see. I’m so nervous and excited! Will let you know how it works out for me. I think there’s a lot of practice in my future. Heh.

So, one question. I now have 3 elemental shields: Water, Earth, and Lightning. I used Water mainly when I was Elemental. Do you mostly use Earth now as Resto?

    Water goes on you and Earth goes on your tank. Though I suppose you could put Earth on yourself for farming/dailies/etc, but I expect Water would still be more efficient.

    In instances i use water shield on my self, and earth shield on tank:P
    When grinding (killing mobs) i use water shield since u still get interupted anyways when casting spells using earth shield, and when i have about 40% hp i switch to earth shield and just look at my health ticking back up:)

    Hey!, i came up with this site on a google search. it looks pretty cool, I play a just under 2100 arena rated shaman, And i figured that warrants me to lend some expertise. Personally i leveled in enhance, its probably the easiest spec to do for stuff like that just cause all you do is auto attack, at 70 after becoming a little bit more familiarized with late game content i switched over to ele which got me a even 1900 rating pretty quick with 40/0/21 and s1 honor gear. I’m sure you pay attention to patch notes of late and then you would notice that Ghost wolf has become instant cast at only the cost of 7 talent points, Which in essence made my Shaman’s life. Since then I’ve got 33/7/21. I’m guessing your not arena grinding your WoW days away but if you do the spec is mildly hilarious at dealing with any melee class, I have no problems with anything outside of a strict s4 type crazymofo, Lately ive worried about ret paladins A little bit but in most cases i can out heal their damage. dealing with casters is also pretty funny, i just pop silver cresecent and anything short of a resto druid wont be able to out heal and stop me, Anyways its a really powerful spec if you use it right. i know you probably don’t wanna hear this now. Right after you respec’d But I’m seriously believing its going to be cookie cutter for shamans, and i use lightning shield most of the time. mana regen isnt an issue for me in anything short of 5s, and 5v5 games are 2 a day maximum for me, Goodluck wif ur Earf Shield! =)

    In a group or raid situation, you are almost always going to want to have Earth Shield on the tank. It is basically a reactive Heal-Over-Time. As you get more +healing, the more it will heal for each “charge”. As well, the person who has it applied gets the healing aggro from it. So it really does make a lot of sense for it to be on the tank. While soloing (questing/farming/grinding/etc) I always have Earth Shield on me. So Water shield on yourself when grouping, earth shield when solo.

    Killing things as resto is slow, there is no way around that. However, you will find that it’s much easier to be careless as resto as you can kill 4-5 things at once in sometimes. Also, you can now easily farm those elite giant tree monsters in Skettis. Each time you herb them you get a few motes of life. :) To kill them, drop earth shield on yourself, pull them (they are immune to nature damage). I put Flametongue on my weapon. Keep a mana totem down, searing, grace of air and probably Stoneskin. Stoneskin doesn’t do much, but it helps. Now you have Earthshield healing you, you have Nature’s Guardian healing you when you get too low. Keep Flameshock applied at all times. If you get low, just heal yourself. You should be regenning enough mana to keep yourself up too :)

    But seriously, you may not totally destroy baddies like you could as elemental – but you really don’t have to worry about dieing much either. Hell, go grab a 2 hander and earth shield yourself and have at it :)

    Also, here are two vids of me healing Kara as Resto. This was middle of last year I think when we were first getting into Kara, so no snickering at the deaths! :) I was a main healer for both, instead of spamming chain heal over the raid.
